About Us

In 2016, massive protests and revolts broke out over government land grabs of Oromia farmers. To the shock of my family, my wife and I ventured on a 12 hour journey through this region. One day, inclement weather caused the dirt country roads to turn muddy, which then caused our truck to become stuck in a deep and unrelenting ditch. Three young shepherds witnessed our struggle while tending to their herds nearby, and immediately gathered nearly their entire village to help us. During the event, we also met a bright young girl named Hopsi, who bursted with life and laughter. This profound experience bared the genuinely selfless and compassionate hearts of this community and in that moment, I was inspired to create Jember Coffee.

Our Cause - Jember Coffee empowers Ethiopian farmers and their communities by providing a means of self reliance. 10% of all orders are returned directly to these local communities, building schools which provide substantial education and youth developmental care for their children. Education is vital to the thriving future of Ethiopia, and we’re determined to serve these communities for a prosperous outcome.
